To sum up month twenty-one in one word, I would either say busy or messy. You are constantly into everything all.of.the.time. It definitely raised my stress level to have the house on the market while dealing with Hurricane G's wake of destruction.
You have been the pickiest eater so far this month. Many meals that I lovingly made for you (and things that you love!) were nonchalantly tossed from your high chair and onto the floor. We discovered that you are a big fan of edamame (yay for more green veggies!), popsicles, and yogurt covered raisins. You still really love fruit, pancakes, waffles, cooked carrots, corn, sweet potatoes, yogurt, grilled chicken, salmon sticks, cheese pizza, and any of your snacks. That is just a short list because you love food - you are just at the lovely age where you asserting more independence and control. :)
Current obsessions:
(1) Getting into the kitchen utensil drawer where I keep the spatulas, etc. You take them to the oven and say "ha" (hot) every time!
(2) Wanting to watch videos of yourself (dada teases you that you're so vain) or watching Elmo or Mickey Mouse anytime you see the phone, iPad, or my laptop. You crawl up in my lap and say "mo" (more), so I try my best to not touch any electronics near you while you're awake. We don't want to encourage a lot of tv watching at this point but are happy that we can put them to good use when we travel soon.
(3) Dancing. You love music and to dance, and it is hilarious to watch you! You do this arm thing, lots of running, quick feet (that's the best way I can describe it in words), and spins. So.freaking.funny. Definitely white boy moves all the way, but I love how enthusiastic and joyful you are when you dance. I hope you stay that way forever, even if you do dance with Elaine-like qualities. :)
(4) Trucks. You are crazy about trucks these days. When you see them from your car seat, you will either let out a "Wow" or an "Ooooh."
Your teachers commented on how much older you seem lately, and I would have to agree. You are growing into quite the little boy and are no longer my baby. In a sense, you will always be my baby, but it amazes me how quickly change happens at this stage.
Current fears:
(1) Swim lessons. Well, I don't know if I would call it a fear, per say, but you hate them.
(2) Doctor offices. I don't blame you, poor buddy. You survived your first, and hopefully your last, surgery. I had to take you for your Hep A shot last week since you missed at 18 months while you were sick. As soon as the nurse called your name, you started screaming and we were still in the waiting room!
You are very curious, observant and smart! You mimic our actions and sayings frequently, so therefore I am extra careful with the things that I say and do around you. You have a very good memory and will remember things from months ago! A couple of months ago, you watched me use the nail clippers to trim off a loose thread from Sheepie. This month you noticed another loose thread (you are always combing Sheepie like a mama monkey, btw), and went into the bathroom to get the nail clippers and tried to do it yourself. I was shocked that you would remember something like that, but it just goes to show you that little ones are like sponges and are always watching and observing.
We are finishing up your size 4 diapers to move up to size 5 and you are now wearing a size 7.5 shoe. Still in 18-24 month clothes for the most part, but I am ready to bust out your 2T bin of clothes as soon as we move houses!

Dear Sweet, Busy boy G,
Lately you are the epitome of the saying, "Keeping me on my toes!" By the time you are asleep, this mama is tired and often needs a glass of wine! But, I love it. Watching you and seeing your mind calculate things. You are still a very good listener for the most part and still as loving as ever, even though you can hit and pinch with the best of them!
You make me laugh constantly and are in a phase where you ask me to kiss your "boo boos" on a daily basis. I will be sad when the day comes and you don't need me to make everything better with a kiss on the knee ... or toe ... or arm... ;)
You are talking more and more and often ask for "Poppa/Gigi." Anytime we go swimming, you say their names before we get out of the car because you associate them with the pool. You also love your cousins and are enthralled with any big kid.
You are known for giving the best hugs and will gladly give them to almost any stranger, although you are becoming a little more shy.
Sweet lovey, I cannot even begin to tell you how lucky I am to be your mama. I love to hear you say my name and get those hugs and kisses from you. Even though there are times when I wish I could have a few minutes alone to use the bathroom in peace, I am so glad you want to be my little sidekick. I love you to the moon and back -- to infinity and beyond.
Love,
Mama
