SCH

SCH.  Subchorionic hemorrhage.  Otherwise known as my new diagnosis after I went to the ER just several hours after my last post.

It appears pregnancy this time around is going to be more of an adventure!  Funny how that happens when it's a planned one compared to the very big surprise (and super easy pregnancy) I had with G.

I've been back to my ob since the ER visit to listen to the fetal tones for peace of mind.  He said that while this does increase my risk for miscarriage and pre-term labor, the fact that my SCH is very small and that he can find the baby's heartbeat so quickly this early is extremely reassuring.  He also remarked that other than pelvic rest, no heavy lifting, and no jogging, there really aren't any precautionary measures.

I could miscarry rocking on my grandmother's porch all day long ... it's really just a "wait and see" and try not to stress/worry when it is out of my hands.  We are buying a fetal heart rate monitor off of Amazon, and I'm doing my best to take it easy and not lift G other than when unavoidable.

This isn't a terribly uncommon occurrence in pregnant women, and I am very grateful that mine is so small.  I am also thankful for the wonderful nurses and doctors at my ob practice who have been sympathetic and attentive.
