What we've been up to

The internet at our house has been come and go, at best.  R hightailed it (isn't that such a funny expression, btw?) out to the electronics store yesterday and came home with our fourth wireless router in the past several months.  Not to mention that he had already gone to our cable provider yesterday as well to swap cable modems.

I don't know much about getting computers or the internet to work.  My basic rules?  Re-boot, unplug and plug back in, and curse loudly when things don't get fixed.  I'm probably not the ideal candidate for those "Computer Geek" commercials.

R came back home and tinkered with everything upstairs for a while and finally declared things "fixed."  While I finally DID have a connection (instead of getting timed out), it was loading very s l o w l y.

He claims he has done all in his power and we are expecting someone to come by tomorrow to take a look.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Besides our internet woes (I'm obviously not typing this at my own house), I have been getting closer to my weight loss goal (fifteen pounds so far - what, what?!?), trying not to think about delicious things like cookies, french fries, and ice cream, and spending some quality time with my two boys.

It is easy to get caught up in life and all of her mundaneness at times, but it's refreshing to stop and take the time to reflect on how incredibly blessed I am.  And to remind myself that facebook, pinterest, my DVRed shows and other such things can wait.  Having some time unplugged this week has been a good lesson for me.

Because he will only be this age once.  And I really want to soak up every moment.

I've been trying to keep up with his ravenous appetite.  The other day for breakfast he ate two blueberry waffles, four strawberries, a handful of raspberries, one small banana, and one yogurt.  I kinda feel like I'm reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar just typing this out.  :)

Today for lunch he had one almond butter and jelly sandwich (I use one slice of bread cut in half), dried pears, strawberries, and one slice of pizza minus the crust.

Disclaimer: I promise he doesn't just eat carbs and fruit!

He also currently loves opening drawers and cabinets and applying his organizational skills = making a big mess.  We have already installed child locks on any cabinet that falls into these two categories: (1) houses dangerous chemicals or (2) houses valuable, i.e. expensive or breakable, goods.

G's favorite drawer by far is in our master bathroom and it holds my hair dryer and straightening iron.  He is obsessed with it!  He crawls straight for our bedroom, into our bathroom, and opens it up immediately.  Then he drags both of them out until their cords are an entangled mess.  I've started to close our bedroom door to minimize how many times I have to drag him out of there each day.  Good times.  :)

I love this age for so many reasons, but let's face it.  I'll love whatever age he's at (mostly) as long as I have him.
