Last month I toured four different preschools nearby and concluded that this one was my favorite. It didn't hurt that we personally know someone who sends her kids there and have heard nothing but glowing reviews.
I am familiar with wait lists and I've heard of preschools where parents camp out the night before registration.
This particular preschool has a lottery system, and today was the big day. It started at 10 a.m., but they make it clear on their website that they do not want you to arrive any earlier than 9:50 (to keep their small parking lot clear for parents who are actually dropping off their children for school).
I am a rule follower, so I arrived promptly at 9:50 to find the little cafeteria already swarming with eager beaver moms. I was handed a ticket and I found a spot on the floor in the back where G could stretch out, eat his snack, and watch the "pad," while I sat next to him trying to summon our number to be called.
A lady came in just after us with her daughter and mother and threw her jacket down on the ground for her daughter to sit on (all while G is picking up his snack off of the floor and eating it while laying on his belly). She then frantically starts throwing workbooks, a magna doodle, snacks, etc. on the ground while telling her mother, "We could be here for four hours!"
Okay, crazy, calm down.

| The evidence... my son on the floor. Notice the little cutie behind him on the jacket? :) |
Finally, my number is called about mid-way through (Wahoo!), and I signed G up for the MWF class three post-dated checks later.
Whew. An hour and a half later, we were on our way, and I am so very glad we can put that process behind us!
P.S. This is only for a three year old class, right, not college?!?
**We are switching preschools because we wanted something closer to our new home. We love G's current school, but I do not love the half hour drive in the morning.**
